Roy A. Mayers
Roy A. Mayers, Sr., 70, of Damascus, MD, formerly of Northampton, PA, died Monday, January 24, 2011 in Mount Airy, MD. Born March 10, 1940 in Northampton, he was the son of the late Charles and Sarah (Heffelfinger) Mayers. He and his wife Rosalie J. (Ziatyk) Mayers were married September 28, 1961. Roy was the owner and operator of Ziatyks West End Market, Egypt for eighteen years before retiring to Damascus, MD in 2002. Survivors: Along with his wife, he is survived by; daughter, Susan A., wife of Kenneth L. Stott, of Damascus, MD; son, Roy A. Mayers, Jr., of Coplay, PA; grandchildren, Tyler, Kristen and Kenny; sister, Irene, wife of John Flamisch, of Bath, PA; brothers, Robert Mayers, of Limeport, PA, John Mayers, of Klecknersville, PA, Gene Mayers, of Bath, PA, Larry Mayers, of Bethlehem, PA. Services: Arrangements are being handled by Schisler Funeral Home, Inc., 2119 Washington Avenue, Northampton, PA, where the family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Monday, January 31, 2011. Funeral service will be at Schisler Funeral Home at 12 p.m., Monday, January 31, 2011. Interment will be at Assumption of the Virgin Mary Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery, Northampton, PA Contributions: Memorial contributions may be made to St. Judes Hospital in care of the funeral home. We just got the news of Roys passing, I am so sorry. Roy was one of a kind he was a great man. everyone in this area has missed you guys for a long time. I was wishing I would have had a chance to see you and Roy again. But I guess that will have to be at another time and place. We are so sad to hear of Roys passing, You are in our prayers.
