Donald W. Kooker
Donald W. Kooker, 89, of Perkasie, PA, died Sunday, January 23, 2011, at his home. He was the husband of Mary (Groff) Kooker. The couple would have celebrated their 61st Wedding Anniversary on February 4, 2011. Born in Quakertown, PA, he was a son of the late LeRoy and Viola (Etter) Kooker. Mr. Kooker was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, having served with the heavy artillery unit in the European Theater. He was employed as a machine operator for Perkasie Industries, Perkasie, PA, for 17 years until retiring in 1985. He also worked as a salesman for the Electrolux Co., the Fuller Brush Co. and for the Bucks Co. Association of the Blind over the years. Mr. Kooker was a member of First United Methodist Church, Perkasie, where he served as the Church Custodian for many years. He enjoyed hunting, attending flea market sales and taking walks in Perkasie Park. Survivors: Surviving with his wife are six daughters, Deborah A. Brubaker, of Quakertown, PA, Donna M. Weisberg and her husband Robert, of Creston, CA, Mary Lou Pfaff and her husband Glenn, of Quakertown, PA, Nancy J. Shannon and her husband David, of Lincoln, ME, Kathleen S. Ciarlo and her husband Anthony, of Perkasie, and Sharon L. Allison and her husband Robin, of Perkasie; a son, William L. Kooker and his wife Lisa, of Wexford, PA; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two brothers, LeRoy Kooker and his wife Carol, and Charles Kooker and his wife Elaine; two sisters, Ruth Clemmer and Grace Strunk, all of Quakertown. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond, Robert and Willard Kooker; and a sister, Dorothy Diehl. Services: Family and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service to be held Saturday, February 5, 2011, at 2 p.m., in the First United Methodist Church, 501 West Market Street, Perkasie. The family will receive relatives and friends following the service. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 501 W. Market Street, Perkasie, PA 18944, or to Grand View Hospice, 700 Lawn Avenue, Sellersville, PA 18960. Arrangements are by the Bernard Suess Funeral Home, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie.
