Thomas E. Barnes, 73, of Allentown, died February 4, 2011 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Twp. He was the husband of Nancy A. (Gombocz) Barnes for the past 51 years. Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Pauline (LaRose) Barnes. He attended St. Stephen of Hungary Catholic Church, Allentown. Tom was employed as the Special Projects Coordinator for the United Gas Improvement (UGI) as the Executive Director for the Allentown Housing Development Corp. (ADHC) and finally as a Property Manager for Thomas E. Barnes Real Estate. He served the Moravian Church as a Manager of Moravian House I, II, and III. He also served as Manager at Moravian Hall Square Apartments in Nazareth, The Alvin H. Butz Inc. building in South Bethlehem, namely the Fred B. Rooney Bldg., and privately as a part owner of BMB Enterprises (The Livingston Bldg.), BBPT Company and Brenner-Barnes. He also served in Guest Relations at Phoebe Terrace. Survivors: Wife; three wonderful children, Susan G., wife of Mitchell Schmidt, Thomas E. Jr., husband of Christine (McMahon) Barnes and Christopher J., husband of Andrea (DeLeo) Barnes. There are presently seven grandchildren, Joe, Thomas III, Jane, and Estelle Barnes and Griffin, Cole, and Chase Schmidt, who will be joined by an eighth grandchild the middle of May; a sister, Mary Hermann and a nephew, Charles Barnes. He has a brother, who is missing in action from the Vietnam War. Services: Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday in St. Stephen of Hungary Catholic Church, 510 Union St., Allentown. Calling hours will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the Tuscan Room at Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home. 17th & Hamilton Streets, Allentown. Interment will follow the Mass at Resurrection Cemetery in Wescosville.
