Helen Sotak
Helen Sotak passed from the arms but not from the hearts of her loving family and friends on Wednesday, March 16, 2011. She was a resident of Hazleton, PA for over 40 years, but currently resided at Cedarbrook Nursing Home in Allentown, PA. She was 91 years old. She was the wife of the late Rev. Raphael Sotak who passed away in 1992. She was the daughter of the late George and Susan (Zelloe) Lazorchick of Nesquehoning, PA. She worked for the former Brills Dress Shop and was a teller for 18 years at the former Peoples National Bank, both in Hazleton. She was a member of St. Johns Orthodox Church in Nesquehoning. Helen was an avid reader and a big Penn State and Steelers fan. She valued her relationships with family and friends. She was a mother, Baba, aunt, sister, sister-in-law, Super Baba, and a role model for her family and friends. The values she instilled will live on for generations to come. Her words of wisdom, loving spirit and sense of humor will be missed by those who knew and loved her. Survivors: Helen is survived by her sons, David and his wife Donna of Allentown, PA, Jonathan of Topton, and Gregory and his wife Laurel of Lakewood, OH; eight grandchildren, Alyson and her husband Marc Cranick, Columbia, CT. Alex Sotak and his wife Jennifer of Mountain Home Air Force Base, ID, Adam Sotak and his wife Athena of Neillis Air Force Base, NV, Andy and his wife Regina of Dover Air Force Base, DE, Anne and her husband Rob Robertson of Litchfield Park, AZ, Elizabeth and her husband Will White of Canton, GA, Joshua and Jonathan Sotak of Topton, PA. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren Dominyck and Isabell Sotak, Dover, DE, and Matthew and Paityn Cranick, Columbia, CT; and one great grandchild on the way. Helen leaves three loving sisters-in-law, Sandy Lazorchick or Phoenixville, Verna Lazorchick of Nesquehoning, and Fran Lazorchick of Carlisle; and several nieces and nephews of whom she was extremely fond. She was preceded in death by her brothers George, Atty. Robert and John Lazorchick. Services: Panachida Service will be held Tuesday March 22, 2011 at 10:30 a.m., in the Joseph S. Blazosky Funeral Home, 81 E. Catawissa St., Nesquehoning, followed by a Funeral Service at 11 a.m. at St. John Russian Orthodox Church with the Rev. Robert J. Teklinski and Rev. Robert Rebeck co-celebrating. Interment will be held in the parish cemetery. Call Tuesday, 9 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
