Doris E. Black, 85, of Devon House, Allentown, formerly of Easton, passed away Friday, May 4, 2012 in ManorCare, Allentown. Born September 16, 1926, in Easton, she was a daughter of the late Daniel R. and Fannie Conrad Illick. Her husband of 52 years, Edward J. Black, died April 5, 2000. Years ago she worked for the former General Aniline and Film. Doris graduated from Easton High School Class of 1944. She had been an avid gardener. She was a lifetime member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, South Easton, where she was a former Sunday school teacher, choir member, served on the altar guild and helped with Girl Scouts. Doris was also a member of the South Side Senior Center. Survivors: Two sons, James E. and his wife, Tina of Williams Township and Michael S. and his wife, Jean of Kempton; two daughters, Susan B. Mensch and her husband, Robert of Allentown and Patricia M. Miller and her husband, Scott of Allentown; a sister, Arlene Zemgulis of Easton and two grandchildren, Jim Black and Debby Mensch. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, 11 brothers, Robert Sr., James, George, Ralph, Earl, Russell, Chester, Lester, Paul and Asher Illick and Sherwood Fritchman and three sisters, Catherine Snyder, Helen Carson and Thelma Berryman. Services: 11 a.m. Monday in St. Pauls Lutheran Church, 610 W. Berwick Street, Easton. Call Monday 10 to 11 a.m. in the Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., 602 W. Berwick Street, Easton. Burial will be in Hays Cemetery. Contributions: may be made to the church, Easton, PA 18042.
