Alton W. Fly
Alton W. Fly, 92, of Quakertown, died Sunday, June 10, in St. Lukes University Hospital-Bethlehem. He was the husband of the late Dorothy E. (Blose) Fly. He was a railroad engineer, operating steam, diesel, and electric locomotives, beginning with the Reading RR and retiring after many years from Conrail. Born in Quakertown, he was a son of the late Horace W. and Elsie (Hess) Fly. He was a 1938 graduate of Quakertown High School and served his country with the US Army, 6th Calvary Recon Squadron in WW II in France and Germany. He was life member of the American Legion Post 242, Quakertown and Forrest Lodge VFW, Sellersville. He loved gardening and being involved in his grandchildren and great-grandchildrens lives. Survivors: Are son, Alton W., Jr., wife, Cathie; daughter, Cathy Burkhardt, husband Vernon; all of Quakertown; grandchildren, Angela, Kelly, Timothy, Jason and great-grandchildren Maia, Sophia, Quinn, and Evania. Services: A memorial service will be held 7 p.m., Thurs., June 12 in the Jeffrey A. Naugle Funeral & Cremation Service, 135 W. Pumping Station Rd., Quakertown. www.janauglefcs.com;.
