Joseph J. Kush, Jr.
Joseph JoBear J. Kush, Jr., 69, of W. 29th Street, Northampton, died peacefully, Friday morning, August 10, 2012, in Lehigh Valley Hospice, 17th and Chew Streets, Allentown. He was the husband of Phyllis A. (Regec) Kush since June 4, 1966. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Joseph J., Sr. and Elizabeth A. (Mesaros) Kush. Joseph worked for the former Bethlehem Steel Corp as general foreman in the forge maintenance dept./millwrights, for 33 years. He was a member of Assumption BVM Catholic Church, Northampton. Joseph was a 1960 graduate of Central Catholic High School, Allentown and a US Army Veteran of Vietnam Era, 64 to 66, serving as a medic and preventive medicine specialist, achieving rank of E6. An outdoor enthusiast, he was a life member of the NRA, a expert rifle, pistol and shotgun-trap shot. Joseph was a Charter member of Ducks Unlimited, Lehigh Valley Chapter and past president of the Lappawinzo Fish and Game Protective Assn, Allen Twp. He enjoyed raising, training and sporting his German Shorthaired and English Pointers. Joseph served as hunting guide at Spruce Hollow Hunting Farms, LTD., Kunkletown for several years. He enjoyed freelance photography, wedding photography and in later years appearing in outdoor hunting, IE: Outdoor Buddies and fishing videos for television shows. Survivors: Wife; sons, Joseph J., III and wife Tammy of Northampton, Jon J. of New Castle, DE, Jami A. and companion Taeyoung Choi of New York, NY; grandson, Jon J., Jr. of Cementon; brother, Thomas G. and wife Brenda of Allentown; two nieces, nephew and many friends. Services: Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m. Tuesday, Assumption BVM Catholic Church, 22nd Street and Washington Avenue, Northampton, PA 18067.
