Helen M. Marhefka
Helen M. Marhefka, 82, of Northampton died Monday, September 3, in her home surrounded by her loving family. Helen and her husband Bernard S. Marhefka would have been married 56 years on September 15th. Born February 14, 1930 in Palmerton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Sak) Szoke. Helen worked for Scottys Fashions in Palmerton and Cross Country Clothes in Egypt. She was a member of Assumption Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church and the Young at Heart Senior Group. Helen was a member of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America Union. Survivors: Besides her husband; sons, Gerard A. Marhefka and his wife Simonee, of Allentown, Chris J. Marhefka, of Northampton, Joseph J. Marhefka and his wife Kelly, of Northampton; eight grandchildren, Adam, Alina, Eric, Owen, Lauren, Celia, Makenna and Emma, a sister Rose, wife of John Marhefka, of North Catasauqua. Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 8th at 10 a.m. in Assumption of BVM Church 22nd and Washington Ave. Northampton. Family and friends may call Friday, 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in the Reichel Funeral Home 326 E. 21st ST. Northampton. Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Contributions: Memorials may be presented to the Church c/o funeral home.
