Marvin Weiss
Marvin Weiss died on September 19, in Bryn Mawr, PA, at the age of 88. Born in Mauch Chunk, PA (now Jim Thorpe), he was the son of the late Samuel and Sadie Weiss and brother of the late Joseph Weiss and the late Gertrude Sis Bloom, all of Jim Thorpe. A graduate of Mauch Chunk High School, he went on to Temple University receiving a degree in podiatric medicine in 1947. Marv was a well-known and well-loved podiatrist in the Carbon and Lehigh County areas. He was a U.S. World War II Army veteran. Marv lived for many years in Jim Thorpe prior to moving to Allentown, PA, then Colorado and finally, Haverford, PA. He was an excellent athlete throughout his life who until just a few years ago was skiing the Rocky Mountains and had served on the Ski Patrol in the Pocono Mountains for 20 years. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed skiing, biking and hiking. Survivors: A friend to so many, Marv was the consummate family man whose joy was being with his wife Judy; three daughters (Lynda Somach of Allentown, PA, Janet Quate of Asheville, NC and Jodi Holman of Evergreen, CO), their husbands; four grandchildren (Samantha Somach, Jennifer Somach, Zachary Holman and Ian Quate); and two nephews (Charles Weiss and Howard Weiss). Services: A graveside funeral will take place on September 28, at 11:00 a.m. at Temple Israel Cemetery, in Weissport, PA.
