Charles Jazz Murphy, 70, of Bethlehem passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at St. Lukes Hospital, Fountain Hill. He was the husband of Carol Murphy, with whom he shared nine years of loving marriage. Born in Wilmington, NC, he was a son of the late Alonzo and Laura (Smalls) Murphy. He served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War, and then worked for Allied Van Lines and other moving companies for many years. Jazz enjoyed listening to music and watching old movies. Survivors: Wife, Carol; children, Charles Murphy, II of Brooklyn, NY, Moniqua Murphy and Lonnie Murphy, both of Mt. Vernon, NY; step-children, Melvin Bradford and his wife, Michelle, Diane Bradford and her companion, Lennox Dennis, Erik Bradford, all of Queens, NY; sister, Ethel Greene of Bronx, NY; brother, Mickey Murphy of Wilmington, NC; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Jazz was predeceased by three brothers and one sister. Services: Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, November 17, at the First Baptist Church of Bethlehem, 3235 Linden St., Bethlehem 18017, where friends may call from 1 p.m. until time of services.
