James J. Mika
James J. Jim Mika, 65, of Palm Coast, FL, formerly of Allentown, passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2013 in Hospice Care at Memorial Medical Center in Florida. Jim was the husband of Christine A. (Borath) Mika and they have been married for 42 years. Born on January 18, 1948 in Bethlehem, Jim was a son of the late Frank W. and Marie Ellen (King) Mika. Jim was a graduate of Allentown Central Catholic High School, and then attended Penn State University. Jim was a Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War and served aboard the USS Severn. He later served as the web master that kept all his former ship mates in contact. Jim was the founder and President of Blacktop Sealing Corp. of Allentown since 1972. In 2009 he and his wife permanently moved to the Palm Coast area of Florida. Jim enjoyed bowling, playing tournament poker, and traveling. He especially enjoyed traveling to Aruba. Survivors: Surviving with his wife, Chris; is his son, Robert and his wife Carol; and his daughter, Heather wife of Brian Yakaitis both of Allentown; a sister, Marie wife of Richard Kosman of Hudson, FL. Jim has three grandchildren, Shawn, Emma, and Chase; nieces, Michele Flanagan of Houston, TX, Colleen Smith-Walters of Tempe, AZ; great-nieces; great-nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Services: A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 10, 2013 at 3 p.m. in the ODonnell Funeral Home, 908 Hanover Ave., Allentown. A gathering of family and friends will be on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. Celebrant for the Memorial Service will be Deacon Joseph Ganser. Interment in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery will be private at a later date.
