Leonard A. Martucci
Leonard Blackie PopPop Anthony Pasquale Martucci, 85 years, of Whitehall, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, February 3, 2013 in Saint Lukes Hospital Allentown Campus, with his loving and dedicated family by his side. Born in Weissport, PA to the late Innocenzo Antonio (James) Martucci, and Antoinette (Dorothy) Cameron Martucci, he was the husband of Elsie Rose (Koefer) Martucci. A graduate of Lehighton High School, he was honorably discharged from the Seabees of the US Navy as a Ships Servicemen Third Class, attaining the Pacific Theater Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, and Victory Medal. Blackie previously owned Len and Spiders, Martuccis Inn, Allentown, and was a window /door installer. He moved to Whitehall in 1958, and also resided on Adams Island, Lehigh River. He was a member of Lehighton Memorial Post 256 VFW, Fullerton Fire Co. #1, Allentown Swimming & Boating Club, PA Tavermans Assoc., and the Allentown Bi-Centennial Brothers-of-the Brush. During his younger days, he loved spending time hunting with his family, enjoying their home on Adams Island watching the Lehigh River, and taking rides in the mountains. In the 50s and 60s he was a bugle player in the Emmaus Drum and Bugle Corps. Survivors: Beside his wife; he was very proud of his five children and their families; daughters, Rosann M. Wieand and her husband, John, and Lenora M. Johnson, all of Whitehall, Sherry A. Garger and her husband, Joseph, of Kimberton, PA; sons Leonard J. Martucci and his wife, Christine, of Marmora, NJ, and Michael J. Martucci and his wife, Susan, of Whitehall; PopPop to grandchildren, Len Johnson and wife, Christina, Daniele R. Wieand Holland and husband, Kurt, Nigel Palmer and fiancee, Maegen Kozemko, Melissa Martucci and fiancee, Joseph Nicosia, Alisha Martucci Almond and husband, Michael, Alexandra R. Garger, Catherine J. Garger, Ron Gallo, and Martin Gallo; great-grandchildren, Madison R. Holland, Killian J. Holland (PopPops Dr. Holland), Damian Johnson, Gavin Palmer, and Ryan Nolt; future great-grandchildren, Makenzie Grube, Drew Kozemko, and Kameryn Kozemko; former son-in-law, Robert Johnson; long-time companion, Sally Anne Crosland; sister, MaryAnn Martucci Smith and husband, Ted; brother, Carmen Martucci and wife, Kathryn; sister-in-law, Lucille Martucci; 34 nieces and nephews; 14 great-nieces and nephews; friend, Eddie Kroboth; predeceased by brother, Nicholas Martucci. His family would like to express their gratitude to Judy Mwangi, Caregiver, Wound Care Staff at St. Lukes Allentown, Dr. Scharle, Dr. Scobolinko, and the St. Lukes Allentown staff for the care and friendship they have given to our Dad and to our family. Services: His Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Fr. Edward J. Essig on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 11 a.m. in St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, 618 Fullerton Ave., Whitehall, PA 18052, located one block south of the Fullerton Ave. exit of Route 22. Visitation with his family will begin at 10 a.m. in the church foyer. Interment with his parents will follow in Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem. The Gilbert Funeral Home of Whitehall is honored to handle his arrangements.
