Donald J. Ruth, 84, of Allentown, passed away Monday, February 25, 2013, in the home of his daughter. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late C. James and Evelyn (Remaly) Ruth. Donald was the loving husband of Betty L. (Vogel) Ruth and would have celebrated 64 years of marriage on May 29, 2013. He was the Superintendent of Building and Operations for Bethlehem Steel Corp. for 40 years. Donald served his country honorably in the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of Warrant Officer during the Korean War. He was a life member of St. Marks U.C.C., Allentown. He was a member of the American Legion, First Defenders and a life member of Fearless Fire Company, Allentown. Donald was an avid golfer and played all sports. Survivors: In addition to his wife, Betty; son, Dennis and wife Audrey of Macon, GA; daughter, Debra L. Beers and husband, James of Emmaus; brother, Gene Ruth; grandchildren, Michelle George and husband Michael, Allen J. Beers and friend, Kelly Borowski, Jennifer Horvath and husband, Matthew, Kevin Ruth and wife Meredith; two great-grandsons, Cole and Ryley George. Predeceased by a brother, Richard Ruth. Services: 11 a.m., Saturday, March 2, 2013, in the K.V. Knopp Funeral Home, Inc. 46 E. Susquehanna St., Allentown. Viewing 6 to 8 p.m., on Friday evening, and 10 a.m., Saturday, until time of service. Interment to follow at St. Marks Cemetery, Allentown.
