Mary T. Bassarik, 89, of Bethlehem, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2013 in Whitehall Manor, under the care of Arcadia Hospice. Born in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Pauline (Petras) Bassarik. Mary served two years with the WAVES in the Medical Corp of the U.S. Navy during World War II, where she was a medical assistant at St. Albans Hospital in Long Island. She worked at Bethlehem Steel and later as a Layout Operator for Western Electric for 26 years until retiring. Mary was a member of St. Annes Catholic Church in Bethlehem. Survivors: Sisters, Catherine R. Eike, of Bethlehem, Pauline Wietecha, of Quakertown; brother, Michael Bassarik, of Bethlehem; goddaughter, Anna Marie Hassay; many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Brothers, Paul, Joseph, Andrew and Charles died earlier. Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m., Friday, April 5, at St. Annes Catholic Church, 450 Washington Ave., Bethlehem, 18017. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Friday, in the Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden St., Bethlehem.
