Barbara George Jones
Barbara George Jones, 75, of Skippack, died Friday, April 5, 2013. She was born May 24, 1937, in West Haven, CT. Bob was the devoted wife of Gerald Jerry Jones for more than 56 years. Their five children were born in Connecticut. The family moved to Basking Ridge, NJ in 1968. Barbara Mae will be most remembered for her compassionate, loving nature, willingness to listen, gentle spirit and devotion to her family and her Catholic faith. In Basking Ridge, Barbara was a founder of The Newcomers Club and was involved in League of Women Voters, St. James Roman Catholic Parish CCD program, Boy Scouts and many other civic leadership roles. The couple was passionately committed to Worldwide Marriage Encounter in New Jersey. Her career highlights included positions at Fairleigh Dickinson University, AT&T and as executive director of a home for unwed mothers. Upon retirement, the couple traveled extensively and lived in Brick, NJ and then moved to Skippack, PA to be close to their 11 grandchildren. Barbara was preceded in death by her mother, Rose W. George and father, George George and one grandchild, Noelle Burke. Survivors: In addition to Jerry, she will be lovingly remembered by her brother, Dennis George and wife Arline of Fort Mill, SC; brother-in law, Ron Jones and his wife Paula of Orange, CT; sister-in-law, Liz and the late Art Jones of Sebastian, FL; half-sister, Debby Sands and husband Dick Bordeaux of San Ramon, CA; cousin, Joan Blakeslee of Vernon, CT; and her children, Lynn and Rick Sample of Quakertown, Doug and Lila Jones of Warrington, Brian and Jackie Jones of Coopersburg, Kevin and Andy Jones of Newark, NJ, Lisa Burke of Quakertown and Ken Burke of Quakertown. Grandyma will also be missed by her 11 grandchildren, Kierstin Sample Pennington and husband Larry, Chelsea and Amanda Jones, Jess, Marisa, Daniel and Luke Jones, Katie, Declan, Olivia and Jack Burke. Services: Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 9 at St. Eleanor Parish, 647 Locust St., Collegeville, PA www.steleanor.com.
