George Kistler Obituary
George H. Kistler
George H. Kistler, 86, of East Allen Township, passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2013, at the Muhlenberg Campus of Lehigh Valley Hospital. He was the husband of Dolores M. Dolly (Yeakel) Kistler, with whom he shared 64 years of marriage on June 24. Born in Guthsville on April 8, 1927, he was a son of the late Harold and Eva (Minnich) Kistler. Mr. Kistler honorably served in the United States Marine Corps. during World War II. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the Bethlehem Steel Co. where he worked in the coke plant as a chemist for 30 years. More notably, for the past 50 years, Mr. Kistler owned and operated Blue Grass Lawns by George, now known as Lawns by George, which continues under the ownership of his son and son-in-law. He was an active member of the Christ United Church of Christ, Bath where he sang on the choir. Survivors: In addition to his loving wife, Dolores; he is survived by his children; sons, George E. Kistler and his wife, Georgeanne, of Lansdale and William F. Kistler of East Allen Township; daughter, Yvonne Yeager and her husband, Ron, of East Allen Township; grandsons, George E. Kistler, Jr. of East Allen Township and Nicholas C. Yeager of New York City; along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Roxanne R. Prutzman-Kistler, in 2012; as well as his two brothers; and four sisters. Services: A memorial service in celebration of Mr. Kistlers life will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church, 206 E. Main Street, Bath, PA 18014. Friends and relatives are invited to call on Wednesday morning from 10 to 11 a.m. in the church. Interment will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of the George G. Bensing Funeral Home, Inc., 2165 Community Drive, Bath, PA 18014. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, may be made in memory of Mr. Kistler to the , 617 Main Street, #A, Hellertown, PA 18055.
