Pauline M. Jennings
Pauline M. Jennings died on Friday, November 29, 2013, having lived a long life. Born in Hagerstown, MD on June 22, 1919, she graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1938. In 1942 she married Mark E. Jennings, Sr., who died in 1973. Her husband worked at General Acceptance Corporation, which transferred him frequently, from Frederick and Silver Spring, MD to Atlanta, GA and Fort Lauderdale, FL. In 1960, he came to the companys headquarters in Allentown. Dedicated to raising her three sons, Mark E., Jr., Alan L., and Kevin L., she did not return to the workforce until the late 1960s, when she went to work at Hesss, where she worked in a variety of positions, including serving as cashier and hostess in Hesss Famous Patio Restaurant, until her retirement. Like so many of her co-workers, Pauline loved Hesss, working there for more than 25 years. Pauline was a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Hagerstown. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Allentown, where she was a former Sunday school teacher and choir mother. She also served in the PTA. Survivors: Sons, Mark E. Jennings, Jr. and his wife, Ingrid, of Franklin, TN, Alan L. Jennings and his wife, Denise, of Allentown, Kevin L. Jennings and his wife, Nancy, of Wescosville; beloved grandchildren, Stephanie, Greer, Haley, Kevin Jr., Dana, Mark III, Eric, and Dylan; treasured great-grandchildren, Ezekiel, Kingston, Mark IV, and Kendyl. Services: Funeral service 10 a.m., Tuesday, in the J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home, 16th and Hamilton Sts., Allentown. Call 8:30 to 10 a.m., Tuesday, in the funeral home, www.jsburkholder.com.
