Stefan Cihylik
Stefan Cihylik passed away January 24, 2014 at home. He was the son of Nicholas Cihylik and Julia Yarka Cihylik. Born on January 1, 1923, he was 91 years old. Stefan was married to Joanne (Coffin) Cihylik for 65 years as of February 2014. Stefan attended Northampton High School where he played tackle for the Koncrete Kids and was nicknamed Rodney the Rock after a comic strip character. He was also a member of their Wonderteam. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He was employed as a machinist for many years and farmed with his brother Nick at Cihylik Farms. As a farmer, he also exercised his creative side by inventing and designing farm equipment and also designing and constructing farm buildings. In his motorcycle days he loved riding and racing his Harley with the Cycle Gypsies. He was known as Rush, the mad Russian. According to Ron Rosenberger & Ron Geist he rode hard and fast and always enjoyed a good laugh. Stefan embraced life, enjoyed meeting new people and never tired of learning new things. One of his great joys later in life was to travel the world with his wife. Survivors: He is also survived by his brother Nicholas W. Cihylik, sister-in-law Katherine Pulizzano; son and daughter-in-law Stefan N. and Tammy Phillips, daughter Valerie, Lisa Bauder; nieces Veronica Dietz, PA Representative Julie Harhart, Louise Seng and Nancy Follweiler; nephews Patrick Best, Nick Jr. and David Cihylik, and John Kurta; grand-dogs, Lucy Lou, Angus and Willow. He was predeceased by sister Catherine Cihylik Best, brothers Frank and John Cihylik. Services: A celebration of Stefans life will be held by the family on a date to be announced.
