Ora Edna Pilkey Conley

Marion-Ora Edna Pilkey Conley, age 92, of Old Fort, passed away Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010 at her daughter's residence in Valdese. Mrs. Conley was born in Swain County on Dec. 1, 1917 and was a daughter of the late John Cleveland Pilkey and Victoria Welch Pilkey. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church for over 60 years. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. Preceding Mrs. Conley in death was her husband, Robert G. Conley. She was mother to three nephews, Edward, Coy and Eugene Hall, all deceased. Saddened by the loss of Mrs. Conley are five children, Gay Brabson Conley and wife, Virginia, of Old Fort, Robert Harold Conley and wife, Gayle, of Hickory, Hilda Randall and husband, Bobby, of Old Fort, Linda Sue Young and husband, Sam, of Valdese and W.H. "Buddy" Conley and wife, Carol, of Claremont; two brothers, Bryce Pilkey of Hickory and Seburn Pilkington of Marion; sister, Eula Griffin of Asheville; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010 in Westmoreland Chapel at 3 p.m. with Rev. Charles Hughes officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Bethlehem Cemetery.
