Alma McCall Childers MARION Alma McCall Childers, 82, of Marion, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2012, at her residence. A native of McDowell County, she was born Nov. 16, 1929 to the late Charles A. McCall and Lela Marlowe McCall. Alma was a retired teacher. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, John G. Childers. She is survived by four children, Martha Jordan (Ben) and John Childers, Jr. (Bonnie), both of Marion, William Childers (Arlene), of Morganton and Nancy Jordan (Kelly), of Taylorsville; one brother, Alvin McCall, of Huntersville; one sister Clara McCall, of Marion; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held today, Sunday, June 10, at 2 p.m. at North Cove Christian Fellowship with Dr. Ken Humphreys officiating. Those desiring to make memorial donations in Alma's memory are asked to consider Hospice of McDowell County, 575 Airport Rd., Marion, NC or Conley Memorial Presbyterian Church, 15323 US 221 North, Marion, NC 2752.
