Ronald Gene Hall, 73, of Merced, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2012, with his family by his side. He was born in Marlow, Ok, to the late Woodrow and Wanda Hall and moved to California shortly thereafter.
Ronnie graduated from Merced High School in 1957. He served in the U.S. Navy and Naval Reserve from 1956-62 and was stationed in Monterey, CA. After apprenticeships with several contractors starting in his teens, he started his own business, Hall Construction. Ronnie built a reputation based on quality and honesty, and treated those who worked for him like family.
Ronnie was an avid sportsman and his years were divided not by changes in the weather, but by the Fish and Game Department's calendar of the hunting seasons. In 1972 he shot a 100 Straight Trap shoot at the Golden West Grand in Reno, NV. It is rumored Ronnie held 3 lifetime NRA memberships and he believed Charlton Heston was his President.
He was a member of the Merced Elks Lodge for 36 years; he was one of the original members of the Valve Burner Car Club, and he was a member of the Mule Deer Foundation. He was a long time regular at Paul's Place and the BBQ Pit.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Treanor-Sellings. He is survived by his wife Arlynne; son, Mark (Kathryn); daughters, Jennifer Ibrahimi (Daniel) and Della Jo Stepp; and grandchildren, Mathew Soliece, Bowie Hall, Cash and Missy Ibrahimi. He is also survived by his many long time very special buddies.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Hy-Lond Health Care for their loving care.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 14, 2012 from 3:00p.m. - 9:00p.m. at Ivers & Alcorn Funeral Home, 901 W. Main Street in Merced.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 15, 2012, 10:00 a.m., at Yosemite Church, 2230 E. Yosemite Ave in Merced. The burial will follow at Merced District Cemetery, 1300 B Street, Merced. A luncheon for Ronnie's family and friends will follow at the Women's Club House, 707 W. 22nd Street in Merced.
Memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association or American Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Ronnie: You were a great listener and always looked at the positive in an individual, regardless of his negative. Little did I know that later your humanism was to be used in my Character Gun in my novel, Tavo's World. Jimmie and Shari
said it all. I grieve with those that love you. Rudy Gallardo

I first met Ron Hall in the early 70's in the construction trades.
Ronnie was a class individual, who taught me a lot about how to treat customers and employees. He will be greatly missed.
