Five years after his death, we still can't stop laughing when we watch Tom Poston's work. We're offering a few of his greatest hits to give you a laugh, too. Tom Poston's career kicked off in the 1950s with his role on The Steve Allen Show. In 1959, he won an Emmy for his work on the show.
Poston was always a delight on game shows. Here he is with lots of hugs and a few jokes on The $25,000 Pyramid (we loved watching him chase down Dick Clark for a hug, too).
And, of course, there was his work with Bob Newhart. In the 1970s, Poston had a recurring role on The Bob Newhart Show (which also featured Poston’s future wife Suzanne Pleshette). But it is as slightly dim handyman George Utley on Newhart in the ‘80s that Poston is best-remembered. A comedy classic.
