Canelo, Sally - Merced  
Sally Canelo May 13, 1930 - May 21, 2015 Canelo, Sarah (Sally) MattinglyBorn in San Francisco, California on May 13, 1930 to Katharine and Bennet Downs Mattingly.  Died in Merced, California on May 21, 2015.  We are comforted by the fact the she joined her late husband Adolph in heaven on the day they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.  She is survived by three children:  Christine Canelo of Sacramento, Kelly Canelo and wife Liz of Atwater, Katy Yeager of Los Altos and five grandchildren:  Cody Canelo and wife Elida of Rocklin, Kayla Canelo of Merced, Sarah Yeager and husband Manuel Garcia of Redwood City, Danny Yeager and Brian Yeager of Los Altos.  She is also survived by two sisters in law: Sister Eileen Canelo of San Francisco and Marilyn Mattingly (wife of deceased brother Michael) of Carmichael.  She is predeceased by her husband Adolph, daughter Colleen, sister and brother in law Charlie and Mary Bolt and brother Michael Mattingly.Sally moved to Merced from San Mateo when she married in 1955.She attended Notre Dame High School in Belmont and College of San Mateo before working as a legal secretary.  In addition to making family life a priority, she volunteered for over 30 years at Mercy Hospital and many years at St. Vincent de Paul.  In more recent years, she was devoted to taking communion to those in need on behalf of St Patrick's church in Merced.  She was a committed grandmother, traveling far to babysit.   Her other interests included bridge, crossword puzzles, watching the SF Giants and her animals.  She will be remembered for her loyalty to family and friends, generosity to the poor and commitment to daily Mass.  A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St Anthony's Catholic Church at 1799 Winton Way, Atwater, CaliforniaOn Thursday, May 28, 2015 at 2 pm.  (Rosary will be recited at 1:30 pm)Contributions to St Anthony's school at the same address or The American Lung Association are welcome in lieu of flowers.

Carter, Kenneth - Merced  
Kenneth Edward Carter May 22, 1933 - May 17, 2015 Ken was born in Brownwood, Texas. He passed away after a short illness. Ken attended Merced High School where he lettered in four sports. He also attended UOP and Fresno State where he played football. When Ken's boys were old enough, he coached Little League Football. He coached for over 10 years and was the president of the league for a number of years. Ken was a self employed Building/Contractor with many fine projects in Merced, Santa Cruz and Lake Tahoe. Ken was an avid 49er fan & even took Peggy to a game on their honeymoon 63 years ago. He is proceeded in death by his parents Clarence and Marjorie Carter, his brothers Tom and Larry, his daughter Joni Carter Hanley, and his granddaughter Ami Lynn Armstrong. He leaves behind his wife Peggy, daughter Susan Armstrong (Jim), sons Greg Carter (Gloria) and Kevin Carter (Margaret), brother Mike Carter and sister Jamie Peterson, five grand children and three great grand children, and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends and Family are invited to attend a memorial service on May 22, 2015 (Ken's Birthday) at 1:00pm at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home, 1490 B Street, Merced Ca. In lieu of flowers please donate to charity of your choice.
