Henry "Scoop" "Coach" Vargas Jr. January 16, 1971-February 23, 2015 Henry Vargas Jr., January 16, 1971 - February 23, 2015.  Henry was a devoted husband, dad, brother, son, coach and friend. He passed away peacefully with his wife, children, parents, and brother around him at his childhood home on Monday, February 23, 2015.  He was born in Merced, California, to Henry and Rebecca Vargas.  He is preceded in death by his brother, Nick Vargas, and grandparents.  Henry is survived by his wife, Michelle Vargas of 21 years together, married for 18 years, his son, Tyler Vargas, daughter, Lauryn Vargas, parents, Henry and Rebecca Vargas, brother Joe Vargas married to Tamara, nephew Isaiah Vargas, nieces, Anisa and Kamryn Vargas, and many loving extended family. Henry was born and raised in Merced, California.  He attended Ada Givens, Hoover Junior High, and Merced High School.  In 1995, he moved to Sacramento and started his family.  He attended Heald College.  He worked as an escalation representative until 2009 and then became a stay at home dad.  He filled his time by taking care of his family and volunteering as a baseball coach for over 12 years.  He lived his life by applying the same principals on or off the field.  One of his favorite sayings was "you play the ball, don't let the ball play you."  That is how he lived his life:  his way.  He also took pleasure in music and going to concerts and "making memories." Funeral Services will be held, Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 459 W. 21st Street, Merced, Ca.  Rosary at 9:30 am and Mass at 10am.  He will be laid to rest at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Vasquez, Margaret - Planada  
Margaret Sanchez Vasquez June 10, 1941- February 15, 2015 Margaret S. Vasquez, age 73, a resident of Planada since 1951, passed away on February 15, 2015 at Mercy Hospital. She was married to her loving husband, Pete M. Vasquez for 53 years.  She was born in Las Animas, Colorado, to Dionicio and Aurora Sanchez. Margaret was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was loved and will be missed by many. She attended Planada Elementry school and Le Grand High school. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Planada and the Sociedad Edad DeOro. Margaret enjoyed her family, especially her great granddaughter and her dog, Candy. Margaret is survived by her beloved husband, Pete M. Vasquez. Her loving sons Peter (Blanca),Anthony(Delores) and Steven(Elaine). Her adoring grandchildren, Ariel, David, Anthony Jr., and Isaac Vasquez, and her precious great granddaughter Athiena. She is also survived by her brothers Zacherias, Santiago, Narcico and Gustavo Sanchez and her sisters Enedina Garza, Gloria Garza, and Veronica Rosas. A visitation will be on Wednesday February 25, 2015 from 4-7p.m. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be said at 5 p.m. at Stratford and Evans Funeral Home, 1490 B Street, Merced. The funeral mass will be said on Thursday February 26 at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 571 E. Yosemite Ave., Merced. Burial will follow immediately at Plainsburg Cemetary, Le Grand, CA.
