Oliver, Joyce  
Joyce Oliver June 4, 1934- Feb. 15, 2015 Joyce Oliver, a 40-year resident of Merced, passed away February 15. Mrs. Oliver was a retired civil servant from Castle AFB and a long-time member of the United Methodist Church in Merced where she was active in women's group service to the church and community. Her sister Janice Hermanski of Enid, Okla., sons Merrill and Maurice, his wife Siriwan, and four grandchildren survive Mrs. Oliver. Mrs. Oliver was married to Jack Oliver for 51 years before his death in 2004. Mrs. Oliver was born June 4, 1934, in Enid, Oklahoma, to W.T. and Irene Moore, the eldest of three children. She graduated from Enid High School in 1952, married soon after and began a career that included administrative work at Beneficial Finance in Enid, Kaiser Permanente and the U.S. Navy in Guam, and for the 93rd Bomb Wing at Castle AFB. She retired in 1995. A graveside service and burial will be at Merced District Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Monday, February 23. Owens, Orlena - Los Banos  
ORLENA OWENS OCT. 3, 1935 - FEB. 17, 2015 Orlena Faye Owens passed away on Feb. 17, 2015 at home in Los Banos, CA, she was 79.  She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne H. Owens.  She is survived by her two daughters:  Sara Sullivan of Dos Palos and Janet Owens-Gokay of Pennsylvania; four grandchildren and three great granchildren. Pierce, Irma - Caldwell  
Irma Jean Pierce june 5 1965-febuary 11 2015 Irma Jean (Lopez) Pierce passed away on February 11, 2015 in Caldwell, Idaho following a sudden illness. Irma was 49 years young. Irma was born on June 05, 1965 in Tucumcari, New Mexico to Angelita Chacon and James Johnson. Irma was raised in Los Banos, California along with her 11 siblings. In 1986, Irma met her future husband, Danny Pierce, while working at the Los Banos Police Department. Irma was a dispatcher and he a police officer from Dos Palos, California. They married in 1991 in Reno, Nevada. During her years of service with the Los Banos Police Department, she was an outstanding dispatcher aka "the bomb" and was named "Dispatcher of the Year" several times. Irma always went that extra mile, while bringing a smile and sense of humor to work with her everyday. Irma was loved and respected by her co-workers. Irma was a Los Banos High School graduate and earned many certifications in her law enforcement career. Irma and her family relocated to Idaho in 2005 for a change of scenery. Irma loved her children more than anything in the world. She was a faithful Christian woman who loved hunting with her husband, babysitting friends' children, cheering on the Seattle Seahawks, snapping her fingers to Motown music, and joking with her church pastor. Irma will be dearly missed by family and friends, but will always be remembered as one "selfless woman". Irma is survived by her husband, Danny Pierce Sr., daughter, Angela Pierce, son, Danny Pierce Jr.; stepsons, Jason (Layla) Pierce, Travis (Jennifer) Pierce, Matthew (Lynn) Pierce; stepdaughter, Kaysie Pierce; 6 grandchildren; brothers, Armando (Jessie) Lopez, Rudy Lopez, Daniel (Julie) Lopez; sisters, Elsa De La Cruz, Marina Lopez, Magdalena Lopez, Azusena Vallejo, Yolanda Esparza, and her dogs Onyx and Tilly. Irma is preceded by her mother, Angelita Chacon, father, James "Jimmy" Johnson, son, Evaristo "Buddy" Puentes, sister, Rose Lopez, and brothers Orlando (Evelyn) Lopez and Arthur Lopez. Irma's funeral will be on Friday, February 20, 2015 at 11:30 am at the Family Worship Center in Los Banos. A burial ceremony will follow at 1:30 pm at the Los Banos Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting financial assistance. Raymond, Doris - Clovis  
Doris E. Raymond August 30, 1927 - February 19, 2015 Loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Doris was born August 30, 1927 in Sacramento, CA, to Christian and Christiana Ericksen. She passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2015 with family by her side. Doris, loved music, dancing, horse racing, Tahoe and her many travels. Her greatest love was her family and friends. She was past President of the Atwater Woman's Club and Atwater Soroptimist Club and was involved in many other community activities. Doris was preceded in death by her first husband, Vernon "Skip" Gilbertson and second husband, Bud G. Raymond. Also her step grandson, Michael "Freddie" Raymond Jr. She is survived by her son, Robert Gilbertson and his wife Alice; her daughters, Christine Kistner and her husband Dwight; and Carol Lingenfelter, also her stepson Michael Raymond and his wife Karen; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Rosa, Joe - Merced  
Joe Garcia Rosa Jul. 14, 1925 - Feb. 19, 2015 Joe Garcia Rosa was born to Antonio and Francisca Rosa on July 14, 1925 in Faial, Azores and passed away February 19, 2015 in Merced, California at the age of 89 years. Joe (Garcia) Rosa was a native of Faial, Azores for 41 years. In 1967, Joe and his wife Anna, along with their four children moved to the United States for a better life. They moved to Dos Palos where they lived for 13 years. In 1980 they moved to Merced where they lived the rest of their lives. Joe worked as a farmer most of his life and enjoyed taking care of his animals at home. He loved his family and the life he and his wife provided for their children. He would fill up with pride with every new addition to his growing family, as he shared his story. He loved to tell jokes to everyone and sing songs with his grandchildren. He enjoyed meeting with close friends where he joked and spoke proudly of his family. Joe had a deep Catholic faith, which he and his wife passed on to their children. He had the ability to put a smile on anyone's face. He was a blessing and will be missed dearly. Joe was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Anna Rosa. He is survived by his children, Mary (Fatima) and Tony Carmo of Merced, Inez Avila of Merced, Joe and Cindy Rosa of Turlock, and Carlos and Debbie Rosa of Merced; 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and brother, Edwin Rosa of Boston, MA. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. with the Rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Merced. The Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, March 2, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Merced. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Merced.
