ALEXANDER EARL KROTIK

Alexander Earl Krotik, "Kro" 78 of Atwater passed Tuesday, November 20, 2012 with his family by his side. He was known as Kro to his friends, but Pops by his family.
Kro was born December 26, 1933 to Michael & Eva Krotik in Evergreen Park, Illinois. They later moved to Grovertown, Indiana where he graduated from High School. He then went on to graduate from Ball State University.
On July 4th, 1957 Kro married the love of his life, Dido.
Kro joined The US Air Force June 7, 1958 and went on to become a Navagator on the KC-135. He earned many honors including, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Combat Ready Medal, and Outstanding Unit Award. He served in Vietnam flying over 200 successful missions. He retired July 31, 1980 as an instructor having achieved The rank of LtCol.
After service to his Country he taught special needs students for 20 years at Downey High School and finished his career at Atwater High School.
Kro loved boating on the delta with Dido where he became Commador of several Yacht Clubs. Spending 4th of July on his boat "Nellie Ruth" became, and remains a family tradition. He also enjoyed camping in his motorhome, spending time with family, and his Dogs Sasha & Jack.
Kro is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Dido Krotik.. He is survived by his children, Bart Krotik, (includingCindy) of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Andy Krotik, (including Tami) of Atwater, Joanna Krotik McKenzie, (including Greg) of Nevada City, Ca and Deana Krotik of Atwater. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, and 1 Great grandchild. Amanda, Leah, Aaron, Josh, Jenna, Regan, Alex, Charlie and Arya. Finally he is survived by his extended Military & Bridge family led by John & Carol McCoy.
The family would like to thank The Wonderful ICU staff at Mercy Hospital. The doctors, Pastor Steve, RT's, Angel Tina & all the RN's who made his last days comfortable.
Interment will be November 29th, 1:30 PM at Santa Nella Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of Flowers the family would request donations be made to Wounded Warriors Project.
