David F. Alvernaz

David F. Alvernaz, 72, passed away unexpectedly on March 25, 2014. David was raised in Turlock and was a graduate of Hughson High School. While in high school, he met his high school sweetheart, Marlene Garcia. David and Marlene shared 53 years of marriage. They built a home near Le Grand and have resided there for 42 years.
David was a dedicated worker for Cal Trans for 32 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and spending time with close friends. David was always a man of his word and had lifelong friends to prove it. He could often be found farming his thirty acres or spending time in his shop.
David was preceded in death by his father, Frank S. Alvernaz.
David will be missed by many including his wife, Marlene Alvernaz, and his children, Kelly Forrester and Kimberly (Timothy) McCarthy. His family could always count on his love and caring attitude and generous heart. He rarely said, "No," to any of them. Blessings go to his grandsons, Justin Forrester, Matthew McCarthy, and Tyler McCarthy who have been such a great source of love and pride for David. They will have many memories to cherish. He was a great role model who helped guide them as their Papa, as well as their friend. David will be greatly missed by his mother, Eva Alvernaz; sisters, Nancy Austin and Cindy Boyden; sister-in-law, Peggy Hernandez; 3 nephews; a niece; and his 3 godchildren. They will continue to keep his spirit alive within the family.
A graveside service for David will be held at Turlock Memorial Park in the Chapel of the Flowers, 575 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock, CA on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at 10:30am.
