HOMER LEE SKIDGEL
OCT. 28, 1934 - NOV. 14, 2013
With family by his side, angels sang and Heaven rejoiced as Homer Lee Skidgel went home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 14, 2013.
I am too tired to move on or to mind the paths traveled. Where I find moonlight and gentle breezes, I shall unload, lay down and rest in peace. By Helen Chen
Homer was born, Oct. 28, 1934 to Earl and Mary Skidgel in Marlo, Ok. He lived and attended schools in Modesto and graduated from Modesto High School in 1953. Directly after graduating, he enlisted in the Coast Guard and also served in the Air Force.
Homer devoted his life to the Nazarene Church, serving in the ministry for over 40 years.
He loved fishing with his grandchildren, friends and other family members.
He absolutely loved riding his motorcycle and enjoyed the great outdoors, traveling to Canada, the Grand Canyon and other long trips.
Blessed and survived by his children; Pamela Skidgel-Medina (Joel), Danny Skidgel (Rhonda), Steve Skidgel, and his baby Robin Forrest (Mark). He is proceeded in death by; his mom; Mary Skidgel Rawlings, step-dad (Pops); Harry Rawlings, first wife; Lorraine Skidgel, his second wife; Opal Skidgel, 2 brothers; Gene and Elvis Skidgel, sister; Kathy Gaines and grandson; Jeremy McCleskey.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Kim, Nila, Sara and Courtney for their loving care, kindness, compassion and support shown to our dad and our family during dad's last days. Kim, you were our rock during dad's last days. A very special thank you to Hinds Hospice, especially Luis, Ryan and Jennifer for your kind spirits.
He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. Rev. 21:4
