Richard Kent Duewell was born on November 2, 1932 in Lincoln, Kansas. Richard was a caring and loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and mentor. Richard passed peacefully on October 30th, 2013 - to join his one true love, wife Stella who preceded him in death in August of 2012. He is survived by a brother - Dolan, Concordia, Kansas, and his wife Lois and daughter Lori. He has 4 loving sons, Ethan and Denise of Turlock, CA; James and Helen of Springfield, OR; Brett and Grail of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA; and Mark and Rhonda of Ashland, MO. Richard grew up in Depression-era Kansas - his father, Carl, died when Richard was very young. His mother, Grace, raised the three children with honesty and a non-complaining attitude to persevere, working long hours as a waitress and short order cook at the local truck stop. Richard raised four sons in the same vein. He retired from the U.S. Air Force
at Castle A.F.B. - he was a Vietnam veteran who proudly served his country in Thailand and Laos. After retiring Richard became a real estate agent and broker who was cognizant that the best customer is a repeat customer. He was recognized as a founder of the Atwater Youth Soccer program and was a dedicated mentor to the city's youth. He loved all sports, especially if his sons were competing - which they often were. He had an innate appreciation of history, literature and poetry. All who met him sensed his integrity. He was simply a truly good man. Though sorely missed, his memory will endure in the hearts of all who knew him.The family has requested a Private Service that will take place on Wednesday, November 6th, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Ivers & Alcorn, 3050 Winton Way, Atwater, California with interment immediately after. There will be a visitation between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM on Tuesday November 5th at Ivers & Alcorn in Atwater and a Public graveside interment at Winton Cemetery, 7651 West Almond Avenue, Winton, Ca. at 11AM on Wednesday November 6th. www.cvobituaries.com
