HECTOR ORTIZ Obituary
Our beloved father and grandfather was called upon to be with the Lord on November 30, 2010 surrounded by family and friends.
Hector was born on February 15, 1934 in Michoacan, Mexico to the late Juan and Isabel A. Ortiz. He was raised in Sahuayo, Michoacan and moved with his family to Planada and Merced area in 1967.
Hector worked for Kellers Industry for 30 plus years, without missing a day of work until he retired. He enjoyed yard work and staying busy by remodeling and fixing up his home. Hector also enjoyed traveling, going on cruises and getting together with his 4 compadres in the plaza in the city of Sahuayo which they referred to as "their office". He also enjoyed visiting relatives and vacationing in Puerto Vallarta and Guadalajara. Hector was a member of La Sociedad de Oro.
Hector was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Eugenio, Mario and his sister Aurora Ortiz all of Sahuayo, Michoacan, Mexico, his brothers Juan and Jesus Ortiz of Merced.
Hector is survived by his daughter Rocio Arroyo (Enrique), his sons Hector Ortiz, Ricardo Ortiz, Juan Ortiz (Elaine) all of Merced, his daughter Stephanie of San Isidro, his brother Jaime Arceo Ortiz of Castro Valley, his sisters Maria, Rebecca, Elvia Ortiz all of Sahuayo, Michoacan, Mexico, his ex-wife Guadalupe Ayala of Merced and his grandchildren Nora, Marcela, Luis, Estevan, Hector, Lydia, Robert and Richard, his great-grandchildren Andre and Emma.
A public visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. with Recitation of the Holy Rosary to start at 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at the Chapel of Ivers & Alcorn in Merced. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, December 6, 2010 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Merced with burial to follow at the Winton District Cemetery in Winton, California.
All funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ivers & Alcorn Funeral Home located at 901 West Main Street-Merced, CA or you may call 209-722-6201.
