DEBORAH HALE-ROBERTSON Obituary

June 19, 1950 - September 29, 2010

Private graveside services will be conducted October 15, 2010 at Plainsburg Cemetery for Deborah Joan Hale-Robertson. Pastor Joel Kemps will officiate.

Deborah was born June 19, 1950 in Fresno County and died September 29, 2010 at her home in Merced.

After graduating from Merced High School, Debbie married Gary Robertson and she raised two children, Zachary and Heidi. Debbie managed Yosemite Transportation Service at both the Merced and Yosemite National Park stations for 20 years.

Those who knew Debbie could only describe her as compassionate, caring and kind. She loved her family and her happiest times were spent in the company of her children, nieces, nephew, and grandchildren.

She also found joy in caring for animals. Over her lifetime she rescued many cats and found homes for them in addition to participating in fundraising projects. Cats that shared her home were Stella, Amos, Rambo, Biscuit, Kiwi, and Emo.

Deborah was preceded in death by her father, George Bailey Hale.

Deborah's survivors include her mother, Barbara Hale; brother, Steven Hale; sisters, Susan Weston and Jennifer Franke; children, Zachary Robertson and Heidi Jaffuel; grandchildren, Zoe and Quinn Robertson; nieces, Nicole, Kirsten and Michaela Weston and Gabrielle and Madeline Franke; nephew, Zachary Weston; and long-time companion, Thomas Crichton. Other survivors are her uncles, Carroll Aubrey Hale, Charles Hale, Robert Jones, Clyde Jones and James Jones.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Last Hope Cat Kingdom, 6660 Bailey Road, Atwater, California 95301 or Trails of Happy Tails, 2740 East Fallbrook Drive, Merced, California 95340.

Arrangements are under the direction of Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home.

Bruce and I just heard the sad news of Debbie's passing. We, too, went to school w/her (class of '67) and remember her as a fun-loving, free spirited kind of gal with a great wit!

Our prayers go out to her family at this very, very sad time.

I am so saddened to hear of Debbie's passing. Barbara, I remember when you told me Debbie was so into gymnastics that she would turn cartwheels at the Mall. Was that so long ago? My deep sympathy and prayers for everyone in the family.

I remember Debbie from High School. I too was a 1968 Merced High graduate. Although not close friends, I remember Debbie as soft-spoken and very kind. My prayers are with all her family.

Heidi, Zack, all the Hales-Robertsons:
Janie, Stacy, and I just learned of Debbie's passing and feel devastated. Our hearts go out to all of you. Debbie was a daughter, sis, surrogate mom, best friend, and "leaning post" to all of us back in heyday of the Merced Gymnastics Club. She's been one of my very "dearest" since her days at Merced High and one of my all-time favorite co-workers. What a wonderful lady! We have nothing but the fondest memories of her. Our love to all the family. --Frank, Janie, and Stacy Russell
