FRANK NORIEGA Obituary

Nov. 11, 1946 - Sept. 12, 2010

Frank Noriega passed away peacefully on September 12, 2010 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on November 12, 1946 to Felix and Angie Noriega in Azusa, Ca. Frank left his home town of Azusa where his parents, brothers and sisters remained, and came to Merced with his wife and 3 young children to work for the Merced City School District where he cared for and maintained the buildings and grounds for over 25 years.

Frank was an avid baseball and softball fan and played in countless municipal softball leagues in the Merced area as well as throughout the State. When Frank wasn't playing in a softball league or a pick-up game with friends and family, or coaching his children and grandchildren in the "art of baseball" he could be found rooting for his favorite baseball team the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Frank enjoyed and cherished the simple pleasures of his life, time spent with friends and family in a softball game or on vacation trips or a warm Sunday afternoon enjoying a "Dodger Dog" while Fernando Valenzuela smoked a 98 mph slider past a SF Giant or "Tommy" giving advice on where to find the strike zone to the home plate umpire. "I bleed Dodger blue and when I die, I'm going to the big Dodger in the sky" (Tommy Lasorda).

Frank was preceded in death by his mother and father, sister Paulette Eaton and brother Herman Noriega. Frank is survived by his wife of 41 years Sally; brothers Felix (Pam) Noriega of San Clemente; Randy (Brenda) Noriega of Glendora; Adam (Marguerite) of California; sisters Barbara (Roger) Melendrez of Victorville; Anna (Ruben) Salse of Azusa; Tina (Gary )Pike of Rialto; sister-in-law Alice Noriega of Azusa; daughter Denise (Michael) Leap of Merced; sons Frank D. Noriega Jr. of Merced and Mark (Kristina) Noriega of Clovis; and his 5 grandchildren Brandon, Bryant, Marisa, Adriana and Mark Jr.

A visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday September17, 2010 at the Chapel of the Light 1620 W. Belmont Ave. Fresno, CA 93728. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. September18, 2010 also at the Chapel of the Light.

I am so sorry for your family`s loss, my heart goes out to you. I worked with Frank for a few years while he worked at John C Fremont school. He always talked about his son`s and Grandchildren. He tried to be a tough guy at work, but he was a softy.
May all your wonderful memories of Frank bring a smile to you. May he rest in peace.
