JOSEPH CHURCH Obituary
Joseph David Church was born June 30, 2010 and passed away suddenly on September 28, 2010. Joey is survived by his well-loved wife and high school sweetheart Gabby, her family Ascencion, Esther, Laura, Rene and Carlos, his parents Vicki and David Church, his brother Steven, sister in Nicole, and his much beloved nephew Jaden.
Joey returned to Atwater after receiving his Business Degree and Special Education Credential to marry the love of his life. Gabby, and to be close to the family he loved. Joey fulfilled his dream of coming back to teach in Delhi where he started his education. he taught Special Education at Harmony Elementary, where one of his students said "Mr. Church was the most awesome teacher we ever had."We will mess his quick wit, all encompassing caring heart, his pragmatic attitude, and his own special view of the world.
The world is a dimmer place without you, Joey, but we will carry on in our hearts forever.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 2, at 2:00 PM at the First Church of God on Fruitland Ave in Atwater.

Gabby, and the Church family,
I was honored to be a part of some of the happiest times in Gabby and Joey's lives and will never forget how special the love they shared was. Never have I seen two people so in love with one another. My heart breaks for you in this time of inexplicable loss. Our prayers are with you all.

There are so many things i want to say i don't no were to began . But here i go . Joe was a special person in my life he was my frist boyfriend and i was his frist girlfriend and he will always have a special place in my heart . Church family,
Joey was a great friend from 7th grade on until high school. There isn't a memory in those six years that doesn't involve him making me laugh or just being there. I'm terribly sorry for your loss. I know there isn't a thing I or anyone else can say to make this any easier but I hope that you can take heart in the lives that Joey touched and celebrate the time that you and all of us had with him. If there's one thing I regret, it's that we lost touch after high school. Your family is definitely in our prayers.

My heart goes out to Joey's family. He was such a wonderful person. I had the joy of attending school with him since sixth grade. He was definitely the kid that tried to make everyone smile! My condolences in you time of mourning. I guess the lord needed a great angel to be in his fleet! My prayers are with the family as they try and cope with the absence of Joey.

Joey, we will all always miss you and love you. I'll never forget meeting you when you came to Elmer Wood in 5th grade. The country line dancing we had to do during Open House was classic. Those were the days. You were always and continued to be one of the best people in the world. In a short amount of time you touched so many lives. Dave and Vicki, we love you guys. All the memories of your family, the Forte's and us at football games will forever be engraved in my mind. I couldn't imagine meeting anyone better than your family. You are all amazing and our thoughts and prayers are with you.

My heart goes out to you and your family. You are always so excited and happy to talk about your boys and your new daughters and grandbaby. Family has always been your top priority. I know that this is going to be a difficult road for a while. Know that we (your Harmony family) are here to support you. We love you dearly and will miss the great new edition we had on our staff. As we reflect on the most fun times we've had in our adult lives, it's hard to find one that doesn't include Joey and Gabby. It hurts so terribly to imagine life without Joey. His laughter, his huge grin, the way he made every difficult situation better, his love for his family and friends...most of all, his love for Gabby. Joey Church was an amazing man. We are truly blessed to call Joey our friend. Gabby, we love you. It's not going to be an easy road ahead. Just know you are loved by many and that we will be here for you always. We still don't understand why God took Joey from you and from all of us, but we do know one thing, he took one of the best. Rest in peace Joe, you'll be living in our hearts and through our memories...forever.

Gabby and The Church Family,
My heart goes to you in your time of need. I was taken back when I heard Joey had passed, and it pains me more knowing we had drifted apart these many years after high school. I have found memories of growing up in delhi and going to elementry school with joey and when my family moved to atwater it was a joy to find I had a friend who now lived a few streets down in this new town. Then in high school Joey meet Gabby and I had a feeling they would end up together. Joey was always happy nothing ever seemed to get him down and thats what made him great. Sorry for your loss and my prayers are with you.

Joey was an amazing man who had an incredible view on life and a heart filled of love for special needs students. If you were in a room with him you would either be laughing at his jokes or fascinated by his philosophy on life. I have never seen one man have so much love for his wife. Gabby was truly his life…. You will be missed but remembered everyday.
