Maria Saucedo Obituary

Maria "Gramma Lal" Saucedo was born in Needles, Nevada on March 13, 1918 and joined our Lord on October 31, 2010. She was married to Alfonso Saucedo, who passed away in 1983. They first moved to Merced in the 1950's and eventually bought a home on M Street. Maria enjoyed a very modest life and credited her longevity to keeping busy gardening in her yard.

She is survived by a Brother, Alvaro Troncoso, of Las Vegas, a daughter, Emma Meraz, of Merced. She had 5 grandchildren: Bertha Alexander, Luis Meraz, Andrea Avila of Merced, Maria Espinoza of Modesto, and Sandra Garza of San Diego. Maria also had 14 great grandchildren and 18 great great grandchildren.

Those wishing to pay last respects may attend a viewing at Evergreen Memorial Chapel, on Wednesday, November 3, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. A memorial service will take place Friday evening at El Templo Hermosa (Hwy 140 and Kibby Road) from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The family will have a grave side interment ceremony on Tuesday, November 9, at 10:00 am at Calvary Cemetery on Hwy 59 and Childs Avenue.

To the family of Grandma Lal. I want to express my deepest sympathy for all the pain that you're feeling right now. Believe it or not, the pain will lessen as time goes by and you will be able to think about her and talk about her without crying all the time. The tears will turn into laughter as you go down memory lane together. I'm so glad I got to be a part of her life even if it's only been for the last 8 years or so, thanks to my beautiful grand-daughter, Angie Garza! Because of her we all got a little closer and I got to know Grandma Lal better. She was the cutest and sweetest little woman you could ever meet. I had the pleasure of having her at my home and I had visited her on occasion at Emma's. She's gone now but remember she's only a memory away! Respectfully, Sylvia Rodriguez.
