Staff Sgt. Vincent Wayne Ashlock was Dec. 4, 2010, while serving in Afghanistan. Born in San Jose, CA on May 10, 1965, and raised in the Central Valley, Wayne began his military career in the Army at the age of 18. After a return to civilian life, his strong patriotism led him to return to military service where he served one tour in Iraq and went on to serve in Afghanistan with the National Guard.
While serving in Iraq, he helped train Ugandan NATO troops and went on to sign with a National Guard special detachment in Afghanistan.
He is survived by his wife, Angela, and five children, Kali, Jesse, Steven, Erica and Christopher, two grandchildren, Addison and Brady, brothers Ryan, Lonnie, and sister Dawn, his mother Margot, and grandmother Bonnie Ashlock.
Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, at Fort Ord Chapel, 4280 Gen. Jim Moore Blvd, Seaside. Burial will be at the San Carlos Cemetery, 792 Fremont St., in Moterey. A celebration of life service will be held at Portola Hotel & Spa, Two Portola Plaza, in Monterey.
