Pano (Barney) Avlakeotes was born September 7, 1932 in Boston, Massachusetts to Vasiliki and Dimitrios Avlakeotes. He passed away on June 9, 2013 in his Redwood City home, surrounded by loved ones.
After high school, Barney was drafted into the service. He chose the Army and served during the Korean War. After serving his country, he returned to Boston where he stayed to be close to his mother. He was by her side until her passing in 1961, after which he headed west to join his brothers Sam and Alex in Redwood City, California.
In Redwood City, he worked for the Postal Service for 35 years. First as a mail carrier and later as a delivery supervisor. Also in Redwood City he met and married his love, Karen. They were together for 50 years and raised three children.
Barney is survived by his loving wife Karen and loving children Kathy, Rocky, and Sandie; his brothers Sam and Alex; grandchildren Jasen, Dustin, Gloria, Jennifer, and Karen; 9 great grandchildren; numerous loving nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his oldest brother Atha.
Services were private.
