Breen, Ethelmay - San Jose  
Ethelmay Breen May 30, 1926 - July 14, 2015 Resident of Los Gatos Effie passed away peacefully in Los Gatos, CA after a short illness. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Carol Miller, and nephews and niece, Ron (Suzie), David (Sande) and Holly (Bill). Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Effie's life on Friday, August 14, 2015 at 2:30 PM at The Meadows, 110 Wood Road, Los Gatos, CA. Effie requested donations be given to the Diabetes Society of Santa Clara Valley and the American Cancer Society.

Byle, Barney - San Jose  
Barney Byle May 27, 1927 - July 19, 2015 Resident of San Jose Barney Byle passed away peacefully with his wife and son by his side. He had suffered from diabetes and Lewy-Body dementia and its complications for several years. Barney was devoted to his family, his church, and was an avid reader and music lover. In his youth he played the accordion. He sang with both his church choir and with the Garden City Chorus (barbershop) in San Jose. He also attended a musical retreat annually with his wife. While his children were young, Barney enjoyed camping with his family and travelling in his VW bus. He was a Star scout in his youth, and continued to work with scouting while his son and daughter were Scouts. Barney bowled with a local league with Shirley. He was intensely proud of his Dutch and Italian heritage and worked on family genealogy. Barney was raised in Paterson, New Jersey and attended Public School #4 in Paterson, Wayne Junior High School and Pompton Lakes High School. After high school graduation he worked for AB Dumont Laboratories for many years. During that time he served his time in the military near the end of World War II and was discharged from the Air Force in 1947 and then served briefly again in 1950-1951. After his first discharge from the Air Force he met and began dating Shirley James. They married in 1952 and moved to Florida. In December 1955 he joined IBM and moved to Syracuse, NY where their son was born and Kingston, NY, where their daughter were born. In 1961 the family moved to San Jose as part of the expansion of the new IBM plant on Cottle Road. Barney worked for IBM as a technician, analyst and program engineer at multiple IBM sites in San Jose and retired in 1989. Barney was survived by his wife of 63 years, Shirley; his son, Richard (Kathleen); his daughter, Danalyn; and his grandson, Matthew. He was also survived by his sister-in-law, Claire Byle; his nephews, Wayne (Sandi) Byle and Trent (Andrea) Byle; plus great niece, Cortney; great nephews, Ryan and Dillon. Barney was preceded in death by his parents, Barney Byle, Sr. and Anna Bianchi (Byle) Perotta, and his beloved brother Norman Gerald (Jerry) Byle. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 14th at 2:00 P.M. at the Presbyterian Church of Los Gatos, 16575 Shannon Road, Los Gatos, CA 95032 (408) 356-6156. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Barney's name to either the American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Beauregard St. Alexandria, VA. 22311, Mark for Napa Tour de Cure (California) or the Boy Scouts of America, Silicon Valley Monterey Bay Council, 970 West Julian St. San Jose, CA. 95126

Davis, Betty G. - San Jose  
Betty G. Davis May 22, 1926 - July 15, 2015 Resident of Modesto Betty Grace Davis, 89, passed away with family by her side, in Modesto on July 15, 2015 after an extended illness. She is survived by daughters, Terri Nagatoishi and Suzie Oberman (Ken); grandchildren, Lisa (Kevin) Finfrock, Paul (Kristen) Trask, Steven Oberman Kirsten Oberman and Cody Davis; great grandchildren, Tyler Finfrock and Matt Finfrock. She was preceded in death by husband Richard and son Tom. Services will be held Friday, July 31, 2015 at 11:00 am at Alta Mesa Memorial Park, 695 Arastradero Road, Palo Alto, CA. A luncheon in her honor will be held immediately following services, at MacArthur Park Restaurant, 27 University Avenue, Palo Alto, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Lung Association ( www.lung.org ).

John Anthony "Papa" Cabri April 25, 1932 – July 24, 2015 Resident of Los Gatos John Cabri, 83, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Italy, grew up in Sutter Creek, CA, proudly served in the US Army, and attended college and pursued his career in San Jose as an engineer at IBM for 34 years. John is survived by his wife of 57 years, Hugheen Jane, his sons John (Tammy), Greg (Susie), Frank (Carol), and daughter Nancy Schroeder (Rick). He was a devoted Papa to John, Annie, Robby, Grace, Anthony, Andrew, Cate, Ava, Julia, Olivia and Michael, and loving uncle, brother-in-law and friend to many. He was predeceased by his brother, Bruno Cabri. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 31, 2015 from 6-9PM with Rosary at 7PM at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, 466 N. Winchester Blvd., Santa Clara. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 10AM at St. Frances Cabrini Parish, 15333 Woodard Rd., San Jose. Ferreira, Al - Alamo  
Al Ferreira Alamo Al Ferreira, 72, of Alamo, California passed away on July 20, 2015, surrounded by his family. The funeral Mass service will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at 10:00 AM at St. Isidore's Church (440 La Gonda Way, Danville, California). Burial will follow on Friday, July 31st at the Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Lafayette. Al was born in Oakland to Albert A. (Buster) and Lucille Ferreira. He and his sister, Melody Sue, grew up in Berkeley and Lafayette. Al followed his grandfather, father and uncles by going into the contracting business, first as a Sales Engineer for Johnson Controls, then a Service Manager for Scott Co. of California, then later as the founder of Ferreira Service Inc. Al was an inspiration to many as he lead family and friends on annual backpacking treks through the Sierras; the Sawtooth Ridge, Peeler Lake and the Sonora Pass were among his favorite destinations. He was an Eagle Scout and an accomplished outdoorsman. He hunted wild boar and pheasants, floated the Sustut River, and fly fished throughout many remote areas of Alaska and Canada with his Uncle Mel, his son, Austin and many fishing buddies. He loved to walk along the beaches at Sea Ranch, although he was equally content hiking above the Sierra timberline, skiing throughout California and Zermatt, flyfishing in any river, and riding motorcycles and dirt bikes with his son. Al is survived by his wife, Susan Ferreira and his children Darla Jean Ferreira, Kimberly Ann Ferreira, Ashley Anne Ferreira Hodges and her husband, Bill Hodges, Austin Ferreira and his wife, Jordan Gillman Ferreira, his grandson, Aedan Ferreira, his granddaughter, Lilah Ferreira, his sister, Melody Ferreira, and his uncle, Mel Ferreira.

Filippone, Consuelo - San Jose  
Consuelo Filippone Resident of San Jose Consuelo passed away on Saturday, July 25th at the age of 91. Connie "Chelo" was born Consuelo Gonzalez Barrera near Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico, on December 31st 1923. The second oldest of six, half her family was born in Mexico and half in Texas. During World War II, Connie served as a telephone operator in Eagle Pass, Texas. As the war came to a close, two of her brothers relocated to the bay area after serving in the US Army. Soon after, the rest of the family followed them to San Jose, California. Connie, as a young woman, was an active community member often volunteering her time. She worked for Hewlett Packard from the earliest days of Silicon Valley. She enjoyed travel, sewing, and photography, but animals were her passion. She later met and married Vincent Anthony Filippone in 1973. Though she never had any children, she leaves many nephews and nieces that will greatly miss their beautiful "Nina". Consuelo is survived by her sister Rosa Elia Rodriguez, and brother Alfredo Gonzalez. She is preceded in death by her husband Vincent Filippone, sister Minerva G. de la Rocha, and brothers Jesus and Rodolfo Gonzalez. Friends and family are invited to a Rosary on Thursday, July 30th at 7:00 PM at Lima Family Erickson Memorial Chapel, 710 Willow St., San Jose, CA 95125. Mass and Funeral to celebrate Consuelo's Life will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 31st at St. Martin of Tours Parish, 200 O'Connor Drive, San Jose, CA 95128.

Kohn, Lloyd M. - San Jose  
Lloyd M. Kohn July 7, 1921 - July 22, 2015 Resident of Sunnyvale Lloyd was born in Mount Shasta, CA and passed away at home of congestive heart failure. He first worked on the docks as a young man. While attending San Francisco State University, he quickly decided he preferred crunching numbers and studied accounting. He enjoyed a long career in the corporate financial field. While working at Fairchild Semiconductor he was instrumental in starting a credit union, which evolved into Technology Credit Union, where he served on the Board of Directors for 40 years. After retiring from the electronics industry, Lloyd went into the business of managing condominium complexes. He retired from that in 2013 after nearly 30 years. He leaves behind his wife Donna, one daughter Janice Roiz; three step-daughters, Natalie, Angela, and Rhonda Wright; and six grandchildren.
