Anita Otuhiva Resident of San Mateo, CA Died peacefully at Mills-Peninsula Hospital in Burlingame on February 27, 2013. She was surrounded by many loved ones in her final days. Anita was a devout Catholic and a mother to countless children and families in the Tongan and American communities. For more than 60 years, she served the Church as a caregiver, a teacher, and a leader. She loved to share stories and celebrate life with her extended families. She will be remembered for her strength, generosity, and selfless devotion to God's love. As a young woman, Anita immigrated to the United States from Lapaha, Tonga. She was preceded in death by her siblings Keini, Tuivai, Atonio, Makalita, Sosefo, Asopesio, and Faone, and was the last remaining of eight children of Amelia Langifisi and Tuivai Aho. She is survived by the families of Kusitafu Tatola, her nephew, James Otuhiva-Raass, her son, Lola Thompson, whose children Benjamin and Christopher Silk were sons to her, and Siumalama Taufalele, her niece. Catholic Mass services will be held in her honor Thursday evening, March 7 and Friday morning, March 8 at Saint Timothy's Church in San Mateo. Her burial will be Friday, March 8 at 1 pm at Holy Cross Cemetry in Colma.
