Carol M. Jennings

Carol M. Jennings Former resident of San Jose Carol Maree Jennings passed away at her loving hospice care home in Redding, CA in the evening of Nov. 26, 2012. She ultimately succumbed to an infection following a fall in her home. Carol was born on the family farm in Elden Township, Dickey County, ND on Dec. 21, 1917, one of four daughters born to parents Maurice D. Letson and Lola M. Jones. She would have been 95 years old next month, and is among the rapidly dwindling number of US citizens who served or otherwise volunteered during World War II. She worked at the naval shipyard in Vancouver, Washington where she met her future husband Richard V. Jennings just prior to his enlistment in the US Army. Following Richard's army discharge they were married Apr. 22, 1945 in Portland, OR. She loved nature and all things wild, travelling, reading, and any TV show or movie with Tom Selleck. Most of all she loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and delighted in their accomplishments. She is survived by her sons Richard M. and John D. Jennings of San Jose and daughter Gail M. Lindsey of Redding, CA, nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in Redding Saturday, Dec. 1st at 2:00 followed by a 2nd memorial in San Jose to be scheduled.
