Jay passed away peacefully on Jan 23, 2014 after a long illness. She was 96. Her husband, Donald W Currie, predeceased her.
She is survived by her sister, Nancy Shortridge of Bonifay, FL; daughter, Charlotte Blair; son, Donald B Currie (Dolores); grandchildren: Hollis Logue IV (Shelly), Morgan Logue (Andrea), Emily Currie; and great-grandchildren: Kira, Ryan, Aidan, Maddox, and Melina Logue. Jay was born in Tuscaloosa AL where she eventually attended the Univ. of Alabama earning a B.S. Degree in Dietetics. She remained a lifelong Alabama football fan…"Roll Tide".
Jay completed her internship at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA. She started her career as a Dietitian working as a civilian contractor for the U.S. Army in Little Rock, AK where she met her future husband, Don. Rules changed and she was enlisted in the Army and was finally discharged as a First Lieutenant. Don and Jay married in 1944. In 1952 they, with their 2 young children, moved to the Willow Glen area of San Jose where they remained in the same home for 52 years. Jay enjoyed playing Bridge, Scrabble and doing Crossword Puzzles. Jay and Don felt education was extremely important and saw to it that not only their children were college educated but so were their grandchildren. Travel was another form of education they encouraged.
A graveside service will be held Feb 6, 2014 at 1:00 PM. Please meet in the lobby at 12:30. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: VITAS Community Connection 255 E. Fifth St., Suite 2600 Cincinnati, OH 45202.
