David Rodgers

David L. Rodgers Resident of Chester Park 97, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2012 at his home at Chester Park in Anchorage. David was born May 22, 1915 in Terre Haute, Indiana. He graduated from Burlingame High School in 1933. David graduated from Stanford University in 1937 with a BA in Political Science. Mr. Rodgers honorably served in the U.S. Army during WWII with some time spent aboard an Army hospital ship. David married Verna Ainsworth Sykes on October 1, 1949. The couple made their home in Burlingame, California. David worked as the corporate personnel director for H.S. Crocker, Co., a lithographic printing company, retiring at the age of 72. He was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking and gardening. After 54 years of marriage, Mrs. Rodgers passed away in 2003. David moved to Alaska in August, 2004 David's family wrote: "Dave loved the holidays, especially Christmas. He loved his family and he will be missed." Mr. Rodgers is survived by his daughter, Debbie Omstead, Anchorage, AK; son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Linda Rodgers, Salinas, CA; and two step-grandchildren, Ben and Jennifer Swann, of Anchorage, AK Arrangements by the Cremation Society of Alaska.
