Donald Freitas

Donald Freitas July 8, 1929 - March 9, 2013 Native of Oahu, Hawaii and long-time Mountain View resident Peacefully left us on Saturday March 9, 2013 to be with his beloved high school sweetheart, Ruby "Begonia." Donald "Pal" was born on July 8, 1929 and was raised in the Kapahulu area of Honolulu, Hawaii. An army veteran, he was stationed at Schofield Barracks and proudly had his picture taken with Burt Lancaster and Frank Sinatra during the filming of "From Here to Eternity" in which he briefly appeared. He was a Palo Alto Firefighter for 28 years and a 50 plus year member of the Palo Alto Elks Lodge. Preceded in death by his mother, father, sister and wife, Don is survived by brothers Bill and Francis Freitas; sister-in-law Roselani (Kanamu) Mack; nephews David (Eileen), Douglas Mack, Mark Freitas; nieces Laurie (Ron) Lopez, Marianne, Carla and Lisa Freitas; great-nephews David, Andrew, and Aaron Mack, Jason Aipolani, Jonah Lopez; and great-niece Sarah Lopez. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in his honor on Saturday April 6, 2013 at 10:30am at Roller & Hapgood & Tinney, 980 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto, CA. Luncheon following at the Palo Alto Elks Club, 4249 El Camino Real, Palo Alto, CA.
