Frank Burge

Frank J. Burge Resident of Los Gatos Died on August 29, 2012, after a six year struggle with cancer. Born August 15, 1934 in Chicago, an only child, he is survived by his wife Barbara and children Teresa (Ashland, WI), Frances (Los Gatos, CA) and Robert (Austin, TX), 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Frank met Barbara Beaver from the Chicago McKinley Park neighborhood on August 19, 1954 and they were married on February 11, 1956 at St. Maurice Church in Chicago. He graduated from Leo High School (1951) and University of Notre dame (1955) BSEE. An itinerate technology worker-engineering, sales/ marketing, advertising and publishing; Frank & Barbara moved to Kingston, NY February 18,1956 (IBM); Fullerton CA 1960 (Beckman Instruments); Santa Clara /Los Gatos CA 1965 (Fairchild Systems); in 1974 joined Regis McKenna Advertising/Public Relations; relocated to Huntington Bay, NY in 1980 as publisher of EE Times and Boston in 1988 as publisher of Electronic Business Magazine. Back to Los Gatos in 1993, retired in 2006 at age 71. The Burges became a family in 1963 when they adopted their first child Teresa, then Frances in 1964 and Robert in 1966. In their early days they enjoyed their several motor trips from Southern California on Route 66 for family visits in Chicago, two train trips from San Francisco to Chicago for the Christmas holidays and many fun-filled family vacations to National Parks, Canada, the Caribbean, Florida, Mexico and Hawaii. Frank was a beer drinker, liked to play blackjack and three- card poker and he and Barbara enjoyed travel and playing golf together. Life with Barbara was very special, they were married 56 years.
