Gerald E. Watson died peacefully at his daughter's home on Tuesday, July 2 in Farmington, NM. He had just celebrated his 84th birthday with four children present. Born in Columbus, OH he earned an accounting degree from The Ohio State University. He married Elizabeth "Libby" Downing in 1951 and had four children. A pilot in the U.S. Air Force, he served two tours in Vietnam and left active duty in 1970. He and Libby divorced in 1976 and in 1978 he married Eloise Stone Gould. The couple moved to the S.F. Bay Area where Jerry later retired from the U.S. Air Force Reserves with the rank of colonel. After Eloise's death from Alzheimer's in 2003, Jerry retired and moved to New Mexico. He will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, myriad interests, and as a man who loved music, model railroads, and corny jokes. Survivors include his sister Betty Eschelman and children Jeff and Chris Watson, Becky Parker, Jennifer Leinbach, and Peggy Petersen. At Jerry's request no memorial service was held.
