, Hank served as a cook in the army, stationed at Camp Roberts, Ca. The same year, he met the love of his life Elizabeth, "Betty" at a German Club dance, in the California Hall, SF. They married in 1944, moved to San Carlos, and raised nine children. For 51 years, Hank worked at and owned the Village Food Market in San Mateo. He valued the relationships he formed in the community he serviced. He loved to go to Bay Meadows racetrack and to play golf.
