Hugo Shane, 91, passed away October 12, 2013. Hugo, born September 1922, Stelton, New Jersey, was the son of Bernard Shane and Esther Tinkleman.
Hugo attended UCLA
before the war and then transferred to UC Berkeley upon returning from WWII
(1945-1946). Hugo graduated in 1947 with a B.S. Engineering and Minor in Aeronautics. He met Hanna Stein that same year. They were married for 58 years until her passing in 2005.
Hugo moved the family to Belmont, and was in the heart of Silicon Valley semiconductor business. With a partner, started a company in 1969 making miniaturized power supplies, some of the smallest at the time and a few were part of a Space Mission for NASA.
After selling the Power Supply business Hugo purchased an Electronic Rep company, Caltron Components. At this same time, this started a 30 year involvement with several industry associations for Hugo, which included serving as President of the NorCal Electronic Representative Association, as well as the WESCON Convention Chairman of the Board in 1982.
Hugo is survived by his daughters Jo Ann, Karen (Paul Wyss) and his son Robert (Toni Westfall) 4 grandchildren (Ken, Rob, Kim and Allyson) and 7 great grandchildren.
Remembrances may be made in Hugo's name to the organization of your choice.
Memorial Service will be Saturday, Nov. 16th at the Foster City Crown Plaza Hotel.
