Jack Lanham, age 99, passed away peacefully October 12, 2013, only 33 days short of his 100th birthday. Jack was born and raised in San Jose and lived 65 years in New Almaden, and on his ranch in Reno for a few years. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Renith and son, Martin.
Jack volunteered for the Army early in WWII
and served nearly 5 years under General Patton in the ETO. Jack earned the rank of Staff Sergeant. He earned the Silver Star, Bronze Star
, Good Conduct medal, Sharp Shooter medal and Rifle Marksmanship award. Jack spent D-Day night in the water of the English Chanel after their boat was mined on D-Day.
Jack worked for San Jose Steel for 36 years. Always an avid hunter and fisherman, Jack enjoyed his later years hunting and fishing with his many friends and family. Jack was extremely proud to be a soldier and serve his country. Jack will be missed by many.
Services will be held on Monday, October 21, 2013 at 12:30 at Oak Hill Memorial Park, 300 Curtner Ave, San Jose
