Jacqueline Drake
1950 - 2013
Resident of Watsonville
The Gamel and Welton-Drake families sadly announce the passing of Jacqueline Ann (Gamel) Drake, loving mother of Marcy Ann and grandmother of Kaitlin Ann and Aidan James, at the age of 63. Jacqueline also leaves behind seven beloved brothers and sisters, a large and loving extended family, and friends too numerous to mention. An avid reader, Jacque attended Watsonville High School and was pursuing a degree at Cabrillo College. Jacque loved life and all that it brought her.
She cherished time spent working under the hood, and cruising the coast in her classic Ford pickup truck or on one of her Harley-Davidsons, rides that routinely ended up at her home with one of her home-cooked meals. A renowned cook, she made sure nobody ever left her home hungry. Jacque was known for reaching out to everyone she met, especially those in need, with friendship, love and a good meal. Although sad in her loss, her family knows that Jacque was strong in her faith, a faith she celebrated with her family, and that she faced life's end without fear, anticipating her final walk with God.
Services will be officiated by her brother Hank Gamel. Visitation will be at Mehl's Colonial Chapel Sunday 11/17 from 10am-1pm preceding a Memorial Service at the Elks Lodge in Watsonville, 121 Martinelli St., at 2pm. Burial will be scheduled at Pioneer Cemetery at a later date.
