Born and raised in Arlington, VA to Alice and William H. Brown. After completing high school, Jim joined the Navy, where he was an Aviation Ordnance man from 1944-1946. In April of 1948, Jim married Nina (Tinki) M. Craig. Eventually they settled in Cupertino, California, where they raised their three children. After a long career with the U.S. Geological Survey of Menlo Park, CA, Jim retired at the age of 55. When he wasn't working, Jim enjoyed spending time vacationing with his family, bowling, shooting pool, playing poker, fishing and building and flying R.C. airplanes.
Hawaii was his favorite destination. Jim is survived by his three children: Ronald James Brown (Linda) of Hollister, CA, Sandi Brown-Grossinger (Pete) of San Jose, CA and Jay Patrick Brown of San Jose, CA. He is also survived by grandchildren: Kari MacDonald, Brion Bickett, Nicole Brown-Martin, Kevin Grossinger, Kelsey Brown, and Amy Grossinger. Jim is also survived by four beautiful great grand daughters and his best friend and long time companion, Anita Divine. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Tinki. A private celebration of Jim's life will be held at a later date.
