Joe Lara

Joe S. Lara March 19, 1922 - November 16, 2012 Resident of San Jose With great sadness we acknowledge the passing of Joe Lara. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Joe passed away at home on Friday November 16, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. Joe was born and raised in Santa Paula, CA and relocated to San Jose. Joe was a WWII Veteran and was awarded the Silver Star for "Gallantry in Action". He worked for the city of San Jose and retired after 29 yrs. Joe was a long time member of the Church Templo La Hermosa serving as Treasurer and Royal Ranger Commander. Joe lived his life demonstrating his love and faith of God. He enjoyed attending his children and grandchildren's sporting events and vacationing with family. His many interests included drawing, painting, tending to his garden and watching boxing with his family. Joe is preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 yrs Hildelisa V. Lara and his son Abel Lara. Joe is survived by his children and their spouses, Joe Jr., Hildelisa, Angelica (Mike Ecdao), Jason (Jackie), Jennifer (Jesse Cantu), his 15 grandchildren, and his 7 great-grandchildren. He touched the lives of countless people and will be fondly remembered for his kindness, generosity and wisdom. Services are as follows: Oak Hill Mortuary, Wednesday, November. 28th. Viewing 10:00-5:00pm. Service at Chapel of the Roses, 6-9pm. Funeral Service November 29th 10am Chapel of the Roses.
